I’ve always loved Cantonese-style bakeries and when I found out that there was one around the corner from my office, I was pretty much ecstatic. For better or worse, I have some sort of bun every morning for breakfast and thought I’d post some photos of the different varieties. This bakery is seriously no bullshit, the storefront sign unironically reads: BAKERY. (It’s on 35th St off 8th Ave.) Inside, it’s tiny, very loud, dive-y, and the women behind the counter expedite like you’ve never seen.
This morning, I had a ham and cheese bun, 75 cents. Behold:
